Set mostly in the asymmetrical meter of 10/8, Cosmic Excursion for violin, horn, and piano seeks to create an atmosphere of fluidity and adventure. In order to create this musical landscape, I utilized my favorite sound-world of pandiatonic harmony in conjunction with a minimalist-like ostinato. These ideas formed the A section of this ternary piece. The rapid tempo and asymmetrical meter of the A section is countered by a slow and steady B section characterized by quartal and quintal harmonies which make use of the more extreme registers of the piano.
