Chronometry

for Bassoon and Piano

Chronometry: the study of time. Completed in 2013, I composed this piece for my college roommate at the time, Andrew Goring, a bassoonist. My main goal with the piece was to show off the bassoon's virtuosity in a way that was not only fun but also a challenge for my Andrew. Early on in the compositional process, I found that the piece was changing meters very frequently--nearly every measure. Thus the title Chronometry came to fruition.
