Celestial Objects

Six Miniatures for Chamber Orchestra

As a backyard astronomer, I recently became fascinated with many of the neat objects I could find with my telescope at night. After locating and identifying many of the most prominent planets, star clusters, nebulae, and celestial events of the night sky, I turned to music to illustrate my excitement. The result was Celestial Objects, a short work for chamber orchestra. This work consists of six miniatures, each based on some of my favorite objects that I found in the night sky through my telescope.

This work was premiered in June 2021 on Victor Huls DMA Recital in Jacksonville, Florida. The ensemble was made up of members of the Bold City Chamber Ensemble and conducted by Victor Huls.
