As a composer who often writes programmatic music, occasionally my musical desire is less of an overt narrative in musical form, and more of a canvas for auditory programmatic imagination. This was my intention with Ancient Ruins. In this piece, my goal was to create an atmosphere, rather than a story, where a visitor (the listener) walks into some historic ruins and does not know anything about them. The music guides the visitor and invites them to speculate the history of the ruins, imagine the story of their existence, and immerse themselves in the adventures of the past.

Ancient Ruins was premiered by Maestro Pasquale Valerio and the Villages Philharmonic Orchestra on the concert, "American Music: A Celebration of Love" on February 14, 2024.
